When you use the LOTS computer system, a DEC System 20, you will be 
communicating with a number of helpful computer programs which provide you
with services useful in getting your own programs to process information.
Each of these programs understands a different language, and each has a
different et of capabilities.  To use them, you must know their languages,
and at any one time you must know which program you are talking to. You must
also know how to enter and break communication with each.  Each one has a
characteristic signature, so that you can always tell which program you are
talking to.  The following chart describbes the programs you will use most.
